11/50. Goal questions.

Yesterday (3/28/2020. You know, in case historians find this article many years from now and want to know exactly when it was.) we held a Zoom meeting about setting goals. We had an AWESOME discussion where people offered struggles/questions they’ve had and actions they’ve used. I ended the meeting by asking everybody to ponder two questions. I actually wanted to discuss the questions a little more but we had already gone 1.5 hours before we even got there! Here are the two questions...

Blog 10/50. Structure.

Here I am just sitting down, at 11:15 pm, to write my weekly blog post. Leasa is not yet in labor (although the signs are showing that it will happen any day now) and we’re all quarantined so you know damn well that I’m not busy. It’s hilarious to me because before I ever sat down 2 minutes ago (it’s now 11:17) I was actually planning on writing about how much I struggle to stay productive without structure. Tell me where to be, when to show up, and what to do, and I...

Blog 9/50. Change!

I couldn’t think of anything more appropriate to write about right now than change. We’re going to be parents. Wow. I have never experienced anything close to this level of change in identity and will likely never experience it again. For over 30 years I haven’t been a parent and now, most likely within the next week, I will be a parent. Then I will proceed to NEVER NOT BE A PARENT AGAIN! It’s so difficult to wrap my brain around. It is so paradoxical. How can something t...

Blog 8/50. Progress

I have walked with my dogs a lot. I walk them or take them to the dog park almost every single day. Using rough numbers, we’ve had Mack and Poco for about 7 years. I guarantee we don’t miss more than 5 days a year. Some of those days are just the park since we got Ruby but some days we get two walks, so let’s say over the last 7 years to be conservative we have walked an average of 350 days a year. Most of our walks take around 30 minutes but again, some days there are two and...

Blog 7/50. Importance of Circadian Rhythm

Most people have heard of the circadian rhythm, but if you’re like I used to be, you only know it in relation to sleeping. But it actually encompasses your entire sleep and wake cycle of a 24 hour period. Artificial light has only been around for a very small fraction of the amount of time humans have been around. For most of our history we relied on the sun to tell us when to be up and moving and when to shut it down. Our bodies haven’t changed nearly as much as our technology and l...
