Heather & Adam Abel!
Over the last year, Heather and Adam have shown tremendous commitment to bettering their health and wellness through CrossFit and improving their nutrition as a family. Let’s put our hands together for this power couple!

Q1: What do you do for a living?
Heather is an X-ray technician at Unity Healthcare and Adam is a sales representative at Freckles Graphics.
Q2: How did you get into CrossFit?
Heather: A friend introduced me to free community workout at the west side box and then Jacqueline told me about Uncommon and I never left!
Adam: I started because of Heather. I’d seen how much fun she was having and I wanted to join.
Q3: What do you like most about Uncommon?
Heather: Definitely the community. Friends I’ve made. I can’t imagine my life without Uncommon and the friends I’ve made along the way.
Adam: The friendships I’ve made along the way.
Q4: What is your favorite CF movement? Why?
Heather: Definitely pull ups. Any kind. Strict, mopping, C2B and hopefully BMU soon.
Adam: Jerks (Have you seen his upper body ???? – wife comment!)
Q5: What is your least favorite CF movement? Why?
Q6: What is your ideal date night?
Dinner without kids. Listening to live music. Anything outdoors. I think we’ve seen a movie in our 7 years being together maybe 5 times lol!
Q7: If you were to do a partner WOD together, what would it be?
Well… we learned a long time ago that partnering with your significant other is a whole different ball game! But if we were to choose, we like to do Murph together. Your mind is a different place and you don’t do it for you. You do in honor of a hero and it makes us appreciate CrossFit even more! Not everyone gets up on a holiday to honor a hero. We are definitely Uncommon!
Q8: What do you both do for fun on the weekends?
Hang out with the kids and our family and friends.
Q9: Since we have a S.M.ERF Challenge coming up in June and both of you have participated multiple times and have had amazing results that have “stuck” afterwards, can you share how the S.M.ERF has impacted your lives individually AND as a family?
Veggies! They are the key to feeling your very best! We at least food prep one meal on Sunday for lunches. The kids love fresh fruit and veggies! Adam does intermittent fasting during the week as well. Heahter physically can’t. Working out at 5:30 am, she is fueling her body as soon as she gets home with banana, almond milk protein smoothie. She eats a hearty lunch that she prepped with tons of veggies.
Dinner is typically meat and veggie. It’s actually very easy. We splurge sometimes on the weekends with the kids and have ice cream, but it’s treat and then back on the bandwagon with our next meal.
Between the two of us since our very 1st SMERF, we have lost 80 lbs!
