Ever since Stacy joined our tribe back in October of 2018, she comes in each day with a growth mindset and positive attitude. She is a pleasure to be around, and we are so proud of her progress over this last year.
Keep reading to learn a little more about Stacy below!
Q1: What do you do for a living?
I’m an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Purdue University.
Q2: How did you get into CrossFit?
As a newbie to the Greater Lafayette community, I searched high and low for a gym community that resembled my hometown group fitness gym. After two years of trying out other options, I finally walked into Uncommon and the first thing I saw was Julie Holt climbing a rope. At that moment, I almost spun myself around and walked out the door. “Nope. Not doing that.” I thought to myself. But then I met Crystal and the rest is history.
Q3: What do you like most about Uncommon?
The atmosphere. It’s fun, playful, serious, cerebral, encouraging, motivating, and challenging. And it’s all these things at once.
Q4: What is your favorite CF movement? Why?
Burpees. Just kidding. Wallballs are my favorite because the movement feels pretty natural to me.
Q5: What is your least favorite CF movement? Why?
Until this morning, Monday, November 11th, it was the 20-inch box jump, but I smashed that movement during our practice session today. Woot woot! So, my frustration is once again focused on double-unders. I really don’t think it’s necessary to explain why I loathe this movement and if you can’t empathize with the DU struggle, then I suspect that you might be a sociopath.
Q6: What do you do for fun on the weekends?
I try to avoid working as much as possible so that I can recharge and be 100% focused for the following business week. When I meet that goal, fun time is filled with catching up on long-distance family and friend relationships, learning technique at weightlifting 101, practicing yoga, chilling with the fur babies, and going to local events.
Q7: What have you learned most about yourself since you started your health & fitness journey?
With the right environment and mindset, I can maintain good health and fitness.
Q8: What are your guilty pleasures?
Every now and then, I’m guilty of enjoying donuts, listening to cover songs, and cranking up the music while driving.
Q9: In spirit of Thanksgiving approaching, what is it you’re most grateful for?
I’m grateful for the support, nourishment, and service that a healthy community provides.
Snaps all around to Stacy!!! Way to be Uncommon!
