I was introduced to CrossFit in the summer of 2012. Up to this point I played pick-up basketball, lifted weights, swam, and followed workout videos like P90x and Insanity. I was just trying to stay healthy and change things up to keep it interesting. A friend asked if I would like to join her and her friends who were members of the Purdue ROTC that regularly did Crossfit in the Purdue Armory. This happened to be around that same time Pete was coaching people in the garage. He also had been in contact with the ROTC group and would occasionally train with them. Thankfully, Pete was my first exposure to a CrossFit coach. He helped ignite my passion for health and fitness.
Today, CrossFit is still exciting and interesting to me. Personally, I have attempted and accomplished things which at one point I thought myself physically incapable. I have also witnessed real, significant change in the health and fitness of others. Even if CrossFit isn’t your ultimate goal or favorite activity, it will absolutely help you get better at whatever your favorite activity happens to be.
I am excited to be back at Uncommon and a part of the community here – it is such a great place. In fact, I proposed to my wife here!
