Weekly Challenge 5.4.20

This week, we challenge you to complete 15 minutes of reading per day & accumulate 2:00 in Extended Crab.

Each day you complete this task will earn you 1 point toward the “Spatial Distancing” Commitment Club leader board!

When was the last time you dove into your favorite book? Or any book at all? Did you know that choosing to read a book over watching television can help to:

.

  • Alleviate stress
  • Promote comprehension & imagination
  • Reduce symptoms of depression
  • Promote good sleep

.

Why? Because reading a book is an active behavior, while sitting in front of the television is passive. A study at Tohoku University in Japan¬†found that a child’s brain structural development can be compromised as a result of too much television. They discovered that television impacted the increase of grey matter on the brain and a decrease in IQ. We challenge you to get just a little bit of extra reading in this week.

  • Neutral head position
  • Elbows locked
  • Fingers directly away from body
  • Drive hips up towards ceiling. Create maximum space between hips and ground
  • Feet together. Knees straight
